To visit Sri Lanka from Bangladesh, Bangladeshi citizens must have a Tourist Visa, even for short stays of less than 30 days.
There are two methods to apply for a Sri Lanka Tourist Visa:
Applying Online for ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization)
This facility is open to tourists from all SAARC member countries, including Bangladesh. SAARC Passport holders can apply for a Tourist visa with double entries at a fee of $20.00, while other passport holders pay $35.00.
The application can be made through www.eta.gov.lk, and the requirements include a valid passport, a digital photograph, a valid email address, and a digital payment method. The processing time is usually within 3 working days.
Applying at the High Commission
Sri Lankan High Commission in Bangladesh offers an alternative for those uncomfortable with the online process.
The required documents include a valid passport, visa application form, recent photographs, air ticket, bank endorsement of USD200, travel itinerary, and the relevant visa fee. The processing time is again 3 working days.
Additionally, Sri Lanka offers a Transit Visa for up to 48 hours, which is currently free of charge but requires an ETA reference number.
